Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (William Kelley, aôut 2018) : 94+/100. From parcels of very old vines, planted in the 1920s and in 1945, the 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Birbettes is—as usual—more reserved than the Pierrefolle, unwinding in the glass with notes of citrus zest, Anjour pear, pastry cream, crisp peach and toasted nuts. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with a deep, multidimensional core; a long, stony finish; and a compelling sense of completeness and reserve. While it will be delicious on release, it will warmly reward cellaring. Drink date 2020-2036.
