Mas Champart Saint-Chinian "Causse du Bousquet" red 2013
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Jeb Dunnuck, avril 2015): Tasted out of barrel and similar in style to the 2012, the 2013 Saint Chinian Causse de Bousquet (65% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and the rest Grenache and Carignan) sports an inky purple color to go with jammy notes of black raspberry, violets and crushed rock. It's medium to full-bodied, elegant and textured, with its acidity nicely integrated. The 2012 has more texture, yet I like the mid-palate here, as well and the overall balance. I suspect it too will have a decade of overall longevity, possibly more.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Jeb Dunnuck, avril 2016): Moving to the wines tasted out of bottle, the 2013 Saint Chinian Causse du Bousquet is a tweaked blend from the 2014 and checks in 74% Syrah, 10% Carignan, and the balance Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Aged 20-24 months in barrel and bottled without finning or filtration, this beauty has lots of Syrah character in its blackberry fruits, peppery herbs, olives, and crushed flower-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, with bright acidity and fine tannin, it's a classy Saint Chinian that will drink nicely through 2023. Drink 2016-2023.
