Paul and Marie Jacqueson, among the best winemakers in Rully
Paul and Marie Jacqueson estate is located in Rully, in Cote Chalonnaise vineyard. It extends over 13 hectares, mainly in Rully, and goes as far as Mercurey and Bouzeron. The grape varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir used by Paul and Marie Jacqueson have today acquired a notoriety and even compete with those of the coast of Beaune.
And yet it was not won in advance! Prosperous before the war of 1914-1918, the vineyard of Rully, was then abandoned due to a shortage of winegrowers, decimated during this war. In 1946, Henri JACQUESON, the father of Paul created the exploitation by taking back the lands of his ancestors. At that time, the wines of Rully were very little known. As a true forerunner, Henri began offering his wine to private individuals and expanded his estate by acquiring the best plots of Rully and Mercurey. He played an important role in the renaissance of the appellation.
In 1972, his son, Paul Jacqueson entered the vineyard and gradually took over the reins. He successfully pursued his father's work. Since 2006, Paul passes his hand to his daughter, Marie, who perpetuates family know-how. The next generation is assured with the arrival in 2015 of Peter, the son of Mary.
The vineyard practices a reasoned culture, respecting the Burgundy traditions. After manual harvesting, the wines are vinified and bred for 12 months in oak barrels.
