Bryan Deleu, vigneron à Condrieu.
It was while working in the restaurant business to finance his architectural studies that Bryan Deleu developed a passion for vines and wine.
He decided to start from scratch and went to train in the Rhône region and then in New Zealand.
Helped by Yves Cuilleron and Pierre-Jean Villa, he released his first vintage in 2019, focusing only on premium quality, because he only had a small area to work.
Only 4500 bottles were produced, on two and a half hectares. Tasting the 2020s (unfortunately already out of stock) and the 2021s the following year (which we immediately bought as soon as they were released to avoid further disillusionment) allows us to say that this is just the beginning of a very beautiful story!
The vineyards are located in the Condrieu, Saint Joseph and Côtes du Rhône appellations. The parcels of land that the new winegrower has recovered from the wasteland are, for the most part, not mechanisable, as the land is so steep.
However, after very heavy investments (physical and financial!), he now has young vines of syrah, roussanne and viognier.
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates to avoid damaging the bunches. The grapes are put in the press after 12 hours in a cold room to facilitate the settling of the must. After fermentation using indigenous yeasts, the wine is aged for at least 12 months in barrel before bottling.
In summary, Bryan applies the best practices to achieve his goal: to see his wines on the finest restaurant menus.
