Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Neil Martin, août 2017) : 89/100. The 2016 Beaujolais Villages Rang du Merle tends to be one of the last to be picked—often ten days later than other cuvées. It has a rich and expressive bouquet: redcurrant, cranberry, fig and marmalade, more confit-like than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, expressive and generous with dates and fig on the mid-palate, segueing into a savory, almost meaty finish. I just find this utterly absorbing ! Drink 2018-2024.
