An aromatic and powerful wine, it won over those to whom we gave a taste. (Translated review)

FLAWLESS ROUNDNESS AND FINESSE LACKS A LITTLE LENGTH AND COMPLEXITY, BUT THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED. (Translated review)

I was very disappointed by this wine, presented as "illustrious" with "famous value for money" This 2016 Syrah is an entry-level, excessively light wine that offers little pleasure. The price may seem attractive, but for €10 you can easily find Côtes du Rhône wines with substance and personality. We're a long way from that with this wine. (Translated review)

    Merchant's answer

Dear Sir, I'm sorry you were disappointed by the "famous value for money" of this wine, presented as one of two "small wines" from "the illustrious world-renowned winemaker Stéphane Ogier". You're quite right, this is the entry-level wine from Stéphane Ogier, one of the most illustrious winemakers in the Northern Rhône. This wine isn't a full-bodied Côtes du Rhône - in fact, it's not even a Côtes du Rhône at all - it's just a light Syrah with a finesse and delicacy that I love, but which obviously doesn't suit your taste. For this type of "Côtes du Rhône with substance and personality", the same winemaker offers his other "little wine", also sold for €10, called "le temps est venu", made from Grenache rather than Syrah, Grenache from a lovely terroir in Visan, further south, therefore more typical of the "Southern Rhône" and therefore more structured. We are happy to advise all our customers by e-mail or telephone, and regret not having had the opportunity to advise you on your tastes before your purchase, and persist in saying that this wine is excellent value for money for lovers of delicate, elegant Syrah. Don't hesitate to give us a call or send us an email if any of the wines in our selection appeal to you. We've tasted them all and will be happy to discuss them with you in order to give you the best possible advice. Finally, you paid €60 for 6 bottles delivered to your door. If you had paid postage and packing (€20), the box of 6 would have cost you €40, or €6.67 per bottle (in the letter which presented you this famous value for money, postage and packing was exceptionally offered)... So I still say that on this occasion, with free shipping, it was excellent value for money! I'm sorry that the wine didn't meet your taste, and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. Yours sincerely, Tristan Depauw
