Eloi Durrbach at Trevallon, a top winemaker in Provence
TREVALLON estate of Eloi Dürrbach has been progressing every year since 1973, when it was installed with his wife Floriane, to preserve its place at the top of the hierarchy of the best wines of Provence.
At the time of the creation of AOC Baux de Provence in 1993, the Vineyard was degraded to Vin de Pays: too many Cabernet Sauvignon, limited to 20% of the blend in the new appellation! The fact that Trévallon is today a "simple" IGP Alpilles undoubtedly contributed to the myth of this great Provence!
The vineyard covers 30 plots totaling 18 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Syrah (50%) for red wines, and 2 hectares of Roussanne (33%), Marsanne (33%) and Grenache (11% Clairette (9%) and chardonnay for whites. Oriented to the north, the soil is essentially composed of limestone, but the climate more Rhone than Mediterranean makes the Syrah incomparable, with a mineral character asserted, such as Cabernet Sauvignon. The red wines are bred 2 years in barrels and casks (with little racking).
Everything is carried out from the beginning in organic farming, with the reinforcement of the children Antoine (to the vine) and Ostiane (to the marketing).
