L'Oratoire Saint Martin, among the best estates in Cairanne, awarded "Organic estate of the year 2018".

pierre-fabre-mont-oratoire-saint-martin-cairanneTen generations of Alary have succeeded one another at L'Oratoire Saint Martin since its creation by Paul Alary in 1692! 300 years of transmission, and as much accumulation of precious knowledge. Since 1984, the Alaray brothers (Frederic and Francois) have taken over the estate.

Located in Cairanne, the 27 hectares estate welcomes vines of exceptional quality, whose average age is exceptionally high, with peaks over 100 years!

The CAIRANNE AOC was born with the vintage 2015: it's the recognition of a superior quality compared to the former "Côtes du Rhone Villages" appellation, with more strict criterias (machine harvest prohibited, limited yields and sulphits), which was already applied to L'Oratoire Saint Martin beforehand. Especially since the Alary were particularly involved in the AOC process to make Caranne the 6th AOC in Vaucluse (after Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Rasteau and Beaumes de Venise).

The estate produces 80% red wines, made of grenache, syOratoire Saint Martinrah, mourvedre and 20% white wines made of marsanne, roussanne, clairette. Conducted in biodynamy, (but without certification), the Alary brothers do not spread pesticides in the middle of the steep hillsides. This terroir - locally called "the mountain" - is located at 200 meters of altitude.

The Alary brothers summarize their vision: "We are trying to develop a wine to drink and to drink again, both well-rooted here in our terroir and wide open to the world." This philosophy has positive repercutions : l'oratoire Saint Martin has received a second star in the "Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2016" of the "Revue du Vin de France".
