Francois Lumpp, star of Givry
The Lumpp family produces Givry and Givry 1er cru among the most prestigious of Cote Chalonnaise. Lumpp's Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs are particularly sharp and are among the most sought after in their sector.
The estate is located in Givry, in the heart of Cote Chalonnaise and today covers less than 10 hectares. Since 1977, the Lumpp Brothers have cultivated vines in Givry as a family. In 1991, they separated and Francois created his own estate, quickly joined by his wife Isabelle, then by their children Pierre and Anne-Cecile.
The vineyard is managed in sustainable agriculture (no chemical weeding since 1995). A lot of work is done in the vines and in the soil, the berries are harvested at optimum maturity, with strict sorting at the time of the harvest, coupled with a second sorting in the cellar on the table. The wines are aged for 12 months in barrels (a small new third, variable depending on the vintages and vintages) and bottling is scheduled according to the lunar calendar.
The wines signed F. Lumpp are in great demand and sought after by informed amateurs. The whites have a very mineral profile, the reds are precise and elegant, pinot noir obliges. The estate shows great consistency, and produces cuvées which are particularly representative of the terroir.
With the Joblot estate, Lumpp, in our opinion, offers the best in Givry.
