Chateau Pesquie Ventoux "Terrasses" red 2016
90/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ( Joe Czerwinski, oct 2017): 90/100. A bit more "serious" than the Edition 1912M, the 2016 Ventoux Terrasses delivers what longtime admirers have come to expect from the estate: ample fruit, complexity, weight and charm. Peppered raspberries and hints of garrigue drive the wine from start to finish, bolstered by fine, silky tannins and balanced acids. This solid value blend of Grenache and Syrah should drink well for 4-5 years from vintage. Drink date 2017-2021

A little too much alcohol (but hey, it's wine) and too many sulfites for my taste. (Translated review)
Merchant's answerDear Sir, thank you for taking the time to share your comments, and I'm sorry that you didn't like this powerful young Ventoux... unlike the other wines in your order, which you seem to have really enjoyed! As for this Terrasses de Pesquié, I did select it because I particularly liked it in this 2016 vintage! But tastes and colors are not up for discussion... I'm going to make a few clarifications - which only involve my taste and me - to "defend" my choice! Indeed, the alcohol is present at the moment, as bottling is recent, but it will melt with time, and above all it is particularly balanced with the fruit, which is very ripe in 2016, as it was in 2016 for that matter. For me, the alcohol is not overly noticeable when tasted at 16°C, the temperature at which all "robust" wines must be tasted, especially in hot years. As far as sulfites are concerned, the dosage at bottling is 77 mg total SO2 (32 mg free SO2), whereas the very restrictive organic standards set a limit of 100 mg. I have sent you the analyses by personal e-mail. The estate claims that this dosage is not perceptible to humans... In any case, I didn't notice it during my selection tasting. To conclude, one thing's for sure, you didn't like the wine, so don't hesitate to come back to us for an arrangement that will save you having to taste 5 new bottles of a cuvée you don't like! Perhaps, however, you should try a new bottle in a few weeks' time, decanted a good hour in advance and at 16°C... it changes everything, you'll see! Yours truly, Tristan Depauw
