I tasted one of the 3 bottles, and was very disappointed. The brownish outline shows that the bottle has been very badly preserved, and the wine resembles a Banyuls... The 2002 vintage is considered exceptional on your site, but after checking it is very mediocre. It's unacceptable for the price... (Translated review)

    Merchant's answer

Dear Sir, we're sorry to hear that you obviously didn't appreciate this wine, let alone its age. In the future, please don't hesitate to ask us for advice before you buy. We're happy to do so throughout the day, and if we had, we would have warned you about the special characteristics of a 20-year-old Peyre Rose. We'll be contacting you privately to collect your remaining bottles and refund your money, as they're rare and we don't have enough to satisfy the demand from enthusiasts who, like us and the guides whose comments we've published on our site (we never publish our comments unless they're from reputable, respected critics), love it. Their tile-red or amber color is perfectly normal (yes, close to a Banyuls indeed) given their age (20 years). These wines remained in the winemaker's cellar until 2022, the date of our last restocking, and were then stored in our air-conditioned winery until they were delivered to you. Better storage conditions are hard to imagine. To say that a vintage in general is mediocre (in which region?) is hardly applicable to exceptional wines such as those of Marlène Soria, and it would be simplistic, you'll agree, to say that La Romanée Conti 2017 presents an unacceptable price compared to the better-rated and less expensive Romanée Conti 2019... In short, you're disappointed and we're sorry. We respect your taste and hope you will understand that it is not shared by everyone. I'll see you in your private e-mail box to avoid any further disappointment. Best regards, Tristan Depauw.
